We open for the season on 31st March 2026, with a brand new exhibition of artefacts from Black Loch of Myrton : these are some of the rarest objects of prehistory in the country and we are fortunate to be able to display them, thanks to Historic Environment Scotland and Treasure Trove, AOC Archaeology, Dumfries and Galloway Council and the Whithorn ReBuild team.
Our guided tours of the Roundhouse are at 11.30, 1.30 and 2.30pm. During April, we will close slightly earlier at 3.30pm.
We open from April to October 31st, Sunday to Friday, 10.30 am to 4pm; we close slightly earlier in April at 3.30pm. Summer hours may be extended.
Your visit includes our chronological story of the development of Whithorn, the upper Gallery “Whithorn Cold Case” exhibition and our Audio Visual presentations, as well as our upcoming exhibit on the recent Iron Age dig; the ticket also includes access to the Iron Age roundhouse reconstruction via guided tour, and the Historic Scotland Museum of early mediaeval carved stones. The crypts are now reopened to the public. All tickets are valid for one year.
