Come and see our new loan – a first edition Folio of General Roy’s Roman Antiquities ( published 1793) and a magnificent map of the Antonine Wall, which is one of the wonderful engravings in the volume This is on generous loan from the Carluke Historical Society – our thanks to Peter Buxton for organising the loan. It goes with our Roman theme for this season – our Roman patera found near Sorbie and our Mercury figure from near Monreith.

We open from March 29th to October 31st, Sunday to Friday, 11 am to 4pm. Summer hours may be extended.
Your visit includes our chronological story of the development of Whithorn, the upper Gallery “Whithorn Cold Case” exhibition and special exhibition “Face to Face with Whithorn’s Bishops”, now including facial reconstructions of Bishops Henry and Walter and the magnificent Whithorn Crozier; the ticket also includes access to the Iron Age roundhouse reconstruction via guided tour, and the Historic Environment Scotland Museum of early mediaeval carved stones. The crypts are currently closed to the public. All tickets are valid for one year.
