While we usually close for the season on 31st October, this year, our cafe will open on Tuesdays from 10am to 3pm. The Museum will not be open over winter, and we will be completing repairs and renovations over the closed season.
We are delighted to host the first Eden Wool Gathering in Scotland this July, with many famous wool and fabric artists and demonstrators, shepherding, rare breeds and historic clothing. All donations are to Stranraer Cancer Care Drop-In with collections at the gate. (13) Facebook
We look forward to working with Galloway Longfhada Vikings on 24th and 25th May 2025. A fun-filled family weekend with Viking marketplace, battle reenactments, update on the traditional boatbuilding project and our archaeological dig!

We’re hosting the Galloway Longfhada Vikings’ encampment again for a weekend of archaeology and skirmishes! Saturday and Sunday 25th and 26th May 11am to 4pm. Boat-themed displays both days and built heritage cinema on Sunday
The Trust will be opening on 31st March 2024 until 31st October 2024. Hours will be 11am to 4pm, until further notice. Roundhouse tours are at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm – access to the roundhouse is by tour guide only. The special loan item, courtesy of National Museums Scotland, will be the Whithorn Crozier.
We open from April to October 31st, Sunday to Friday, 10.30 am to 4pm. Summer hours may be extended.
Your visit includes our chronological story of the development of Whithorn, the upper Gallery “Whithorn Cold Case” exhibition and our Audio Visual presentations, as well as our upcoming exhibit on the recent Iron Age dig; the ticket also includes access to the Iron Age roundhouse reconstruction via guided tour, and the Historic Scotland Museum of early mediaeval carved stones. The crypts are currently closed to the public. All tickets are valid for one year.
